LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — UNLVino is back for the 44th year, and it just continues to grow! Joining us is Chef Gina Marinelli who is participating at this year’s event and also opening up a new restaurant here in town.

Marinelli’s first restaurant, La Strega, will open in Summerlin in 2018, and we’re getting ready for UNLVino this weekend.

Everything in the restaurant, from menu to the decor to the uniforms, to the way guests are greeted when they walk in the door, will be a personal expression of Chef Gina’s heritage, travels, and passion Her goal with La Strega is to celebrate that dining out really does bring people of all ages together through food and community.

La Strega, meaning “witch” in Italian, is fueled by Marinelli’s desire to captivate her guests and take them on a very personal culinary adventure across Italy. The menu will showcase Marinelli’s twists on Italian favorites prepared with seasonal ingredients and infused with contemporary, fresh flavors served alongside an expertly curated wine and cocktail program. We will be showcasing our rigatoni bolognese and La Strega cocktail at this weekend’s UNLVino.

Marinelli is thrilled to be participating in this year’s 44th annual UNLVino as one of the few female chefs at the event. This event serves as the year’s largest scholarship fundraiser for students of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas’ William F. Harrah College of Hospitality.

This year’s 44th Annual UNLVino will be held at the Keep Memory Alive Event Center Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 14. All of the proceeds from UNLVino will go entirely directly back to the students.

Harrah College of Hospitality’s 50th year, UNLVino will be putting on one memorable night with over 50 restaurants, more than 130 of the world’s finest, award-winning wines, more than 40 sakes, over 30 champagnes and sparkling wines, 30 plus beers, and 40 plus spirit brands.

UNLVino will serve as a tribute to gaming resorts, law and winemaking pioneer Donald Carano and trailblazing gaming executive Ann Hoff who will receive the 2018 Dom Perignon Award of Excellence.

The night will also be honoring pioneering journalist Robin Leach and the famous French chef Paul Bocuse.
